An engagement announcement is a really bad way to inaugurate my use of this blog. My future posts will seem lame.
On Friday afternoon I got a book full of reference letters. They said things like:
Dear Ms. Elizabeth,
I was wondering if you know my teacher? His name is Mr.saathoff. You can call him Eric. He’s hansome, a teacher, smart, white and even like sunflowers too. He might give you chocolate and flowers. He wants to marry you, propose to you, and give you a ring too. Erick loves you! Your his queen.
Dr.Ms.Elizabeth Boosalis
Mr. Saathoff He is a hand some old man. Do you like beards he has curly hair and he’s strong and he told me you could visit some time our day and that would be a blessing and he’s really digging you Ms. Elizabeth.
Dear Ms. Elizabeth
Do you got some feelings for my teacher He really need a wife.
I like that last one a lot. It really gets to the point.
Two years ago my Papou said I could have any honky I want if I learn to make a good spanikopita. I learned on Friday morning, I will make some for all of you because it really is that good.
Hooray!

Wow. Congratulations! Being the two Chicago members of this apartment, we should go out and celebrate! You can come to me or I can come to Hyde Park. We can work something out.
You will have to put up with me saying "this is really really weird" every 10 seconds, though. And also musing about whether me or Mary will be the next to go.

oh, dearest lizzy. i'm so happy for you and eric! and, i'm with megan on this one...it is so NOT wierd (i had fun reading through your facebook posts. i didn't even notice you had updated, because so many people had updated you didn't even show up on the update page. but then i saw megan had posted on your wall.long aside)that i guess it is a little wierd. i was so excited after i talked to you. and my family was all like, "what, i thought they were already engaged??!" haha.
cristina, don't muse too much about the subject, but DO keep us posted on that certain fellow... ;)
